We finally have a break from the hundred degree temps, but not for long. Forecast has more in store for us next week. Ugh.
But! I'll take the hot temps over fire. My heart does go out to those affected by all the fires raging across the West. Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, California, and more. So far, I've heard of one fire fighter fatality. And hopefully, that's the last one. He was a pilot and his plane went down. Be in prayer for his family.
Seems there's always something. I hope you find moments within your day to simply breathe, to find joy and peace. I don't know about you, but I've been wiped out. Emotionally, mentally, and physically. Between everything going on in the world and just day to day things, life has been exhausting lately.
So, take time for yourself. I'm not saying be self-focused, but do take time to rest. To recharge and unwind.
I did that yesterday. I drank my coffee out on the patio yesterday morning. Birds were singing, chickens were clucking, the cows were mooing. And my daughter's dog was eating my tomatoes. Right off the vine. Being angry about it was more effort than I had left in me. So, I invited her up on the swing with me, and I reflected that at least I had a patio, a swing, tomato plants, and a sweet dog to eat them and enjoy the moment with.
Shoulder news: I'm still waiting on the approval for surgery. Neck and lower back news: surgery is needed to repair what is going on there, but it's going to be a slow process getting there. And I'm not sure that I will go ahead with surgery just yet. I'd want to know what I'm looking at, the surgery itself, the recovery, the aftereffects. Will I be able to ride horses still? Sit and read? Write a book? These are things I'm passionate about, and don't want to give them up unless I absolutely must. The little things, remember? So far, though life is painful, with the help of pain meds and my chiropractor, I am managing. And will continue to do so, until I can't.
Book news: I'm still working on formatting, but that is almost done. Then I'll get my KDP and Ingram Spark accounts started and get this book uploaded! Yahoo!
Other book news: I've read two fabulous new authors recently. Well, new to me, anyways. The first is Genny Carrick at gennycarrick.com and her newest book, Just Act Natural, was AMAZING! Loved every part of it. Swoony, and hilarious, and heart-warming. I HIGHLY recommend this book and the author. I gave it 5 stars on both Goodreads and Amazon. This book was a clean reads/closed door romance.
The second author was Madison Wright at authormadisonwright.com and her book, Off the Beaten Path. Again, swoony, and literally had me laughing out loud. This is also a clean reads (mild language) and a closed door romance. I also gave her five happy stars.
Seriously, if you love books like these, check these two authors out.
Well, that's it for now. Stay tuned though for release date news! It'll be soon. As always, stay safe, take care of you, and thanks for stopping by.
Your Lady of Literature,

PS: Here's another little thing: Like KatyBeth, my favorite roses are yellow. This is a picture I took of a new bloom off the climber I planted near the chicken coop. It's cheery, and it makes me happy.
