A Resurrection, an Extraction, and Tea

One week ago today, Believers celebrated the resurrection of Jesus Christ when He conquered death and gave the enemy of our souls thoroughly unwelcome news. A week prior to that, my daughter became engaged to a young man who is and was a literal answer to my prayers. So, on Easter Sunday, we celebrated double. Or triple, if you count that we also celebrated my husband's birthday earlier that same week. All the celebrations last week.

Two days after that, I had a wisdom tooth extracted. It had become infected and like a rebellious, sulky child, had turned horizontal and then burrowed away from my other teeth and into my jaw. The dentist was calling it a "high risk" surgery due to how close it was to the nerves that run along there. So last Tuesday, they knocked me out and removed said tooth, along with what we think was a "nub" of scar tissue on my tongue. It's believed I most likely bit my tongue at some point and it just stayed there. Either way, it was removed, and stitches were given. To be on the safe side, it was sent off for testing.

My face was quite swollen, but most of that is gone. My jaw is still quite sore, most likely from them prying my mouth so far open to properly reach that tooth. And, of course, my tongue hurts. This morning, I was able to eat French Toast without too much difficulty. The good news is that they gave my pain meds. Which are great, except they make me woozy and fuzzy, and clear thought becomes a challenge. Yesterday, I held off taking those meds and managed to get some writing done, but BOY did I feel it.

This morning, due to those meds and the fuzzy-wuzzies they give, I'm home from church, listening to some praise and worship music and sipping my decaf Earl Grey. All in all, it's been a smooth ordeal and I'm hopeful to continue healing and get back to work this week.

On my Facebook page, I shared a tiny little snippet of a teaser from Written in the Deep. So if you're interested, go check it out and tell me what you think. Well, that's my life in a nutshell this last week or so. Take care and thanks for stopping by.

*The photo was from our trip to Ireland and as we celebrated the Lamb Who was Slain, I felt it was a fitting image.
